  1. APORT is a direction at sea, indicating the left side of a vessel when one is facing forward. The term is useful because an oarsman is typically facing astern, making “left” and “right” somewhat confusing.

    The dozens of excluded nautical terms in this game are no more technical to the tens of millions of boaters than the terms used by automobile drivers and passengers. Puzzling it is.
